meadow: the cradle

This field, tradionally managed as meadow, cut for its rich hay in the summer and grazed by cows into the autumn, is known locally as "the cradle". You can see why in this photo, as it curves gently from one side to the other. It is a beautiful, peaceful spot, a cradle of calm in the midst of more actively farmed arable land.
