WC's Fleetfoot
RIP Sammy
This is our stunning rescue cat Sammy, it was love at first sight with this fellow, he was the first cat we saw at the rexcue center and the cat we finally decided to take home.
He lived with us for 10-11 years and was very much a lap cat. When he was outside he was top cat till his final week of life...
He got a very large chunk of our hearts for he was very loving, very cuddly, very sweet, very clever(despite us saying he was stupid teasingly... we never ever meant it.) For a cat who had been mistreated and regularly beaten before he came to us he was surprisingly gentle and loving.
Unfortunately in his last year of life around Easter half term he was noticeably not eating(which was odd because he had always been fond of his food), skinny had sunken in eyes and his stomach still looked large... Naturally we were worried and took him to the vet where they took tests and found nothing wrong.. They decided to have him brought in a few days later for screening....
In the next few days it was horrible to see him, he was so weak and skinny, he could barely walk and he became increasingly cuddly and would snuggle up with one of us and just sleep.... It made me cry just to see him, but the day before we took him to the vets it was sunny and he made it outside to the patio and lay in the sun while we sat on the chairs....
Next morning I got dressed for school, Sammy was put in his cat box and rushed off to the vet... That's the last I saw of him, for later that day he was tested positive for FIP an incurable disease that affects cat's (for more information look here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feline_infectious_peritonitis
The vet and my mother decided the best thing to do was to put him to sleep (after the vet told us he was likely to die in pain later in the week anyway...)
He is greatly missed and I still have a hole in my heart where he used to be... Rgis photo was taken on his last christmas with us
