Its Only 365 Days

Just when you think you can slow down because the holidays are winding to a close, my packed January makes its name known. I was texting my friend last night, and I was telling him, its going to be non-stop for me in January, and he says, well, look at it this way, that means people like you and want to at all their functions.
January 1 is a friends birthday and of course, New Years, the 2nd, my best friend is flying back into town (crossing fingers) for a temporary stay from her work in Chicago so she wants to party, the 5th, 6th, and 7th, my A-gays are throwing a major three day birthday bash for one of their own, which is my best guy friend, which involves a day of Sushi and clubbing, a drinky drank drunk house party, and finishing that off with yet another day of clubbing. Then the 14th is the bridal shower for the wedding chica. Then, and only then, I think I can rest.
So I am in need of a dress (well, not really, I have at least 4 unworn ones in my closet...but...in girl world that means, yes, I need another one). My A-gay's birthday bash is going to be crazy. He's inviting everyone to at least one of the dates, but lucky me, I got an invite to all three. He looked me straight in the eye, and said, I want to see Naomi because he saw the pictures I posted a while back with "my" long hair. He's like, hair, heels, hotness, bring it! Well, who can say no to that?!?
I went to my lover Ross who rarely seems to disappoint me these days with such a wide selection. I picked up these 5 dresses which were literally one behind the other on the rack. But which one did I choose? (Little side explanation....it was cold out today by southern standards, and so I had on like 3 layers of clothing and a hat, so in every picture the reason you don't see the floor is because my jeans are hillariously still half on along with my boots which were so comfy and cozy that I just didn't want to hassle with taking them off. Also the hat, bad hair day. It was like mind of its own crazy, so the hat was master today. Anyway...
Dress Number one: I love four colors of dresses: black ones, red ones, black and white ones, and royal blue ones. The first dress fit my criteria to the tee. It was so cute, I had to twirl. It had this really long sash in the back too and these sweet organza straps. Loved!
Number 2: Sexy! I felt so diva in this one and it was so comfy. I really liked the criss cross of the black part down the front, and my lovely lady lumps, looked uh-mazing.
Number 3: I had a vision of Mad Men in this dress. It reminded me of some sort of 60's thing. Very demure and sensible.
Number 4: Red Hot. Again with the sashes...I can't get enough of them and that ribcage effect. I love the pleats in the front and was adjusting them a bit when, gasp, they are pockets!
Number 5: Julia Roberts, pretty woman. Nuff said.
So...which dress did I eventually go for....well, 5 was definitely out. I felt like a hooker for real. It was too short and too tight and too awful and I started humming pretty woman and imagining myself in a pair of janky thigh high boots, so ick! Dress number 3 was too demure. I want to make an impression and this one says I'm going to the library to shelve books. So it was down to 1, 2, and 4. I nixed 2 because I did the bendy at the waisty test, and it was too short. I could see hoo haa and naa naa, lol, and I'm not a fan of showing that off to the entire world. Dress number 1, I had to fight everything in me to put it back, but it was too sweet. I'm going out!...I can't look like I just got back from sipping sweet tea on a porch. So that meant, number 4 was the winner!!!!! I mean come on, it had pockets! Pockets, people! Love. Heart. Plus after my birthday outfit, I am in LOVE with red again. Obsessed, actually...and the bridesmaids dress for the March wedding, I found out is going to be red along with the shoes, so it continues. I took this home and tried it on with my stilettos and some black tights, and I felt like a model quite seriously. I walked by my dad in the kitchen the other day, and I was like thank goodness I took after you (he's 6'1), because unlike a lot of girls, I love being tall! My mom HATES when I wear heels because I can tower over everything and everyone (read: she's jealous) but her side of the family is composed of a bunch of pigmies. Anyway, I am looking Naomi campbell fierce and if you mess with me, I might just throw a phone at your neck!
