Phoenix tailings- Norseman WA

The old mining town of Norseman in the southern end of the West Australian goldfields, owes it's birth to a horse of the same name. This horse, called Norseman, unknowingly scratched the ground, and unearthed a sizable gold nugget on the 13th August 1894. It was an event that caused another gold rush sensation in this area of the west. The horse is immortalised in a statue, on the very sight of that discovery.
