50% RGB and 50% Lab

Road Map

RGB

1.Background was duplicated on new layer Blending Luminosity .

2.Increased contrast (Apply Image Best Channel to Worst Blending normal: Here is Green to Blue)

3. Stamp Visible Layers and copy result layer one more times. On these 2 layers was reduced luminosity in consecutive order

4.Command Shadows/Highlight 2 times focused on Highlights.

5.Mask for layers was taken from original layer Red Channel (Tuned by Apply Image Blending Multiply)

6.Again Stamp Visible Layers and copy result layer one more times. Here was digging details out on the beak of the pelican.

7.Again Command Shadows/Highlight 2 times focused on Shadows

8.Mask for layers was taken from original layer Inverted Red Channel (Tuned by Apply Image Blending Multiply)

9.Last two layers were combine in group and add mask for beak , so adjustments were applied only locally.

10. All layers were converted in Smart Object “RGB”

11.Change Color Space in Lab

12. Smart Object ‘RGB’ was duplicated on next layer and rasterized

13. Apply image Lightness to Lightness Blending Multiply

14.Mask for layer was calculated from Ch b.

15. Layer was turned into group, Added mask to eliminate bird

16.Saturated Highlights by Curves adj. layer. Mask was added from ch. Lightness of Smart Object “RGB”.

17.Two more empty curves adj layers with blending mode Overlay and low level opacity (one for ch.a and second one for ch.b ) to compensate saturation entire image. Added Mask ch. Lightness

18.All layers except Smart Object were grouped. Added Mask ch. Lightness to eliminate bird

19.File was saved as Master

Final touches

Lab image was duplicated and flattened , Sharpened by Smart Sharpen Filter, Converted into RGB.

Final Image was blended from 2 layers

Where background layer was rasterized Smart Object “RGB” and top layer was image dropped from Lab workflow. Opacity of top layer was reduced to 75%
