Polonium 210 - Alpha rays radioluminescence
After 19 months since I photographed this anti-static device, the polonium is still quite radioactive, even though it's expired in November 2008. Alpha radiation (which is a stream of helium nuclei - 2 neutrons and 2 protons) from metal strips containing little polonium 210 is still causing silver activated zinc sulfide strip placed on the grids to luminesce. This image was taken with a new camera, giving a brighter image in the dark.
