The Incredible Tower O'Storage!
Standing nearly eight and a half feet tall, this behemoth provides nearly 100 lineal feet of shelf space in four feet of wall space, and also includes 16 inches of standing storage in the middle for 4X8 sheets of plywood. There's one sheet standing in there now, but many more will come. Note the raised bridge between the two sections, stiffening the structure while still allowing easy access to the sheet goods. The platform underneath contains 10 levelers to give a sturdy base, and the high-pressure laminate on top of the base allows the sheet goods to slide easily. The side of the long units are also the backs of the short shelves on the front, and the units are securely screwed to the base, and to a ledger lagged to the wall. Shelves at bottom, top and middle are housed in dadoes and the shelves sit on pins, with holes precision-drilled using a plunge router. Took many hours to build, with help from Dave R and John Z. Built from very fine maple plywood factory-finished both sides with catalyzed epoxy. Bought the materials cheap on Craigslist, but everybody who has seen it thinks I'm an idiot for using it for shop furniture. My shop, my rules!
