By the mid-1950s the process of introducing new diesel multiple unit trains to replace steam trains was underway on British Railways. This publicity leaflet, with a vignette of a DMU (probably by artist A N Wolstenholme), introduces the new services that ran between Manchester and Macclesfield. "London Road" is now better known as Piccadilly - and Macclesfield Hibel Road has long gone.
