The Shakespeare Country : tourist folder : Associated British & Irish Railways : nd [c.1934]

One of the annual series of leaflets on the subject of "Shakespeare Country" issued by Associated British and Irish Railways following their formation in c.1932/33. Most years the relevant railways, in this case the London Midland & Scottish Railway and the Great Western Railway, appear to have taken turn to produce artwork that was then published under the ABIR title for distribution overseas; primarily as here in the North American market.

This very rural 'Old England' scene is credited as being by "B". There is no clue as to date but as other issues, datable, run from 1935 - 1939 I am inclined to place this c.1934. As for production I wonder if this did not originate in the GWR publicity offices given the ABIR logo is strikingly similar to the GWR circular badge used by the railway in the mid-late 1930s.
