In post-WW2 years it appears various local authorities issued a tenants handbook, usually produced on their behalf by a third-prty who covered costs by selling pertinent advertising. This contains the various "do's-and-don'ts" for the tenants, with information relating to the rules and regulations of tenancy. In addition to the 'rules' their are hints and advice on a range of domestic issues along with adverts for local concerns whose goods and services may have been of use to the tenants. This was a time when a great many people lived in council housing and such accomodation was sought after.

 

The guide was issued by the County Borough of Swansea's Hosuing Committee, shown as at 1957/8, and published, as others were, by the Gloucester based British Publsihing Co. Ltd. The booklet also contains some grainy images of the various housing estates, most likely the newer post-WW2 ones as the pre-war programme was rapidly being eclipsed by post-war construction as the country struggled to deal with earlier slum clearance programmes and war damaged properties.
