The once great and famous independent coach operator of Yelloway Motor Services of Rochdale, an undertaking that survived attempts at acquisition and nationalisation only then to spectacularly collapse upon the deregulation of the UK's bus and coach operations. This is their 1968 timetable for the lucrative Lancashire to London services that Yelloway had a stake in and it was this, along with their Blackpool and West Country services that gave them access to some profitabel routes.
These services, connecting the then mill towns of South East Lancashire through Manchester and Derbyshire, were unusually not joint services although much is made of connections with George Ewer's "Grey Green" services out of the Kings Cross Coach Station in London that both companies used; Victoria Coach Station was, at the time, 'out of bounds' to Yelloway.
The graphics are a strange mix of typefaces and the banner is still the old "YellowaY" sunburst that was an important part of the Yelloway 'look'. It was printed by local printer's Edwards & Bryning of Rochdale.
