A real blast from the past of home and interior decor here - a nicely produced colour catalogue that includes a price list and a smple tile. "Artistic Tyne-plaqs" were a thin, chamfered 4.25" square aluminium sheet, with five small 'link-stick' adhesive pads to the reverse, printed with a range of designs and patterns. Sold in sets and with a minium order of 50 tiles they were produced by Tyneside Printers who obviously had invested in the printing process technology to manufacture these.
The main striking point is the really period, contemporary graphics, colours and patterns available and that are shown in various potential settings such as kitchens and bathrooms, as well as pages showing the whole range of 'sets' - Herb, Bistro, Marina and even, on the back of the famous BBC TV drama the Onedin Line, the Onedin featuring sailing ships! The catalogue also gives tips on producing funky decorative patterns as 'features'. It really is a marvellous slice of '70s and '80s life - even down to the sophistication (we we thought so at the time) of a Sparklets Soda Syphon.
