LPTB - the why and the wherefore, 1933
Formed in 1933, the London Passenger Transport Board - better known as London Transport - decided to introduce themselves to the public through a series of adverts that were later issued in folder form. This cover is of interest - the thoughtful typography is very London Transport (although not in the company's own typeface and it looks to be in Cable) and also shows something of interest - the shortlived LPTB 'flying snail' symbol that was intended to supplant the roundel. It didn't - by 1934 the traditional logo was back. It was designed by C W Bacon.
