Turn Over Tales; a new playbook in colour photography, Adprint : photography by Zoltån Wegner : Collins, London, 1946

A fascinating post-war childrens book produced by Adprint for Collins and with a sequence of three 'strips' that turned over in differing sequences reveal various stories by author Hugh Gee. The 'illustrations' are a series of colour photographs by Zoltan Wegner and, not credited, I suspect the 'scenes' are by Amalia Serkin. The ensemble was put togther by Adprint, a fascinating publishing company whose roots were in the wave of German emigration to the UK in pre-war years. The driving forces behind Adprint were Walter Neurath and Wolfgang Foges. Two other important names connected with Adprint were Wilhelm Feuchtwang and Eva Neurath. In time Adprint's staff would help form Thames & Hudson, the publishers, as well as being behind the fascinating story of Isotype, the system of graphic communications.
