North Downs MOD 967, Orpington - Croydon route 853, December 1972
North Downs were one of the few operators who manage to prise their way into London Transport's monopoly - although not in a big way. Here, second-hand MOD 967 makes its way from Orpington towards East Croydon on 2 December 1972. The operator, based in Orpington, introduced this route in 1969. I'm not certain as to the origin of the bus - but AndrewC below has kindly pointed the way. It was a Bristol LS, fleet number 22 in the ND fleet and ran with them from January 1972 until December of that year so this must have been amongst its last journey. It had been delivered to Western National as their 1676.
