A lovely shot of one of Edinburgh's Leyland Titan PD2s, on the old 34/35 service and with one of their own design 'portcullis' bus stop flags on 'Staybrite' posts. In the background a Concrete Utilities 'Avenue' lamp post and a mercury lantern before Edinburgh went sodium. The picture is, I think, in Leith and it is indeed in John's Place; the 21 (before it became the 1 as a full circile) and 34/35 ran this way until about 1958 when it appears to have become peak hour only operation?
The vehicle, NSF 728, is one of the several hundred lightweight MCW bodied Titan PD2/20 type bought in the mid-1950s by the Transport Department primarily to replace the city's trams. They lasted for many years in service up until the early 1970s.
