Described at length in the book is this 5-span portal bridge erected at Billingham and described as the first all-welded bridge in the UK as opposed to structures formed by rivetted or bolted means. Annoyingly the book gives no date for construction but thanks to a bit of research it was 1934. The structure ran over a now lifted branch railway line - the bridge survives and is Listed.
