Samuel Allsopp's, Brewers, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire; beer price circular 1861

A circular issued by the brewers Allsopp's of Burton, that most famous of brewing towns, initimating a fall in the price of beer after the successful harvest of 1861. The formality of the letter is typical of the period - all very proper!

Allsopp's were, at this date, one of the biggest brewers in the important brewing town - but they were to struggle in later years. They finally, in 1935, merged with Ind Coope and so passed into Allied Brewers.
