Passing the Twins
Off to the right of the front of the engine are the twin cinder cones lying in front of the Old Women Mountains that are referred to informally as "the Twins."
Here, the westbound Atlanta to Los Angeles train (characterized by all the CSX and JB Hunt Boxes) shows it's geographic origin by retaining NS 9703 in the consist, as it charges up Cadiz grade out of the Essex Valley as it passes through Cadiz on its way to Barstow California where it will be re-powered with four shinny GEVO's for the trip down the hill (Cajon Pass) into the LA basin with the ultimate destination being the Hobart Intermodal Yard in Vernon California.
