Trabant, affectionately known as Trabis, on display outside the International Spy Museum. Trabis were East German designed and built cars. Meant to counter the market for "decadent" Western automobiles. Early models were powered by tractor engines and even the late 1980s "sport" models boasted a performance approximately equal to their Western 1950s counterparts. However, they are mechanically quite simple, and thus easy to maintain, if somewhat temperamental.
