Olvera, Spain - the 'Via Verde'

January 2013 - a beautiful winter's afternoon but with clouds stacking up in the east. The 'Via Verde', running 38km east to west between Olvera and Puerto Serrano is, arguably, one of Andalucia's prettiest 'Greenways' with plenty in the way of wildlife to see. The view here is taken just a few kilometres west of Olvera. The town of Olvera, itself, is situated in the north-eastern corner of the Cadiz province and has a population of about 8,500. It is one of the larger "pueblo blancos" (white villages) in the area with white houses, steep and narrow streets leading up to an old Arab fortress at the top of town. Close by is an impressive church, the 'Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación' (the Parish of Our Lady of the Incarnation). There are plenty more photos of Olvera and other Spanish towns/locations if you take a look at my 'Albums' page, www.flickr.com/photos/36623892@N00/sets/ - thank you.
