Teba, Spain
(HDR image) With a population of a little over 4,000, the Andalucian town of Teba lies about 60km north-west of the provincial capital, Málaga. It is a town with an extraordinary history dating famously back to the 'Battle of Teba' in 1330 a rather complicated story involving the Scottish warrior, Sir James Douglas, a close friend and lieutenant of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots. Regardless of its rich history, Teba enjoys a remarkable setting, high on a rocky saddle in the mountains east of Ronda. The 360 degree views from the castle ruins are quite stunning. For the bird enthusiast, there are often soaring eagles and/or vultures overhead while at the base of the village, on the banks of the 'Rio de Almargen', other birds, such as black-winged stilts, can often be spotted.
