ADDITIONAL NOTES.

Built as part of the wagon fleet modernisation programme when EWS took over the BR Trainload Freight Companies at privatisation. They had 100 of these dual purpose bogie flat wagon built but its fair to say utilisation has been low from the outset with at least 50% of the fleet now stored. The heavy steel section floor is able to take the weight of a road vehicle or heavy plant machinery, diggers etc. or alternatively it can be used as a container flat wagon as its fitted with adjustable spigots. They have seen use in container trains but this tend to be as a last resort as they soak up train length but with a low payload capacity. Most have found use in the Government Stores wagon pool and are used to convey containers between various military depots as well as Marchwood military port.
