BRT stored class 20's MOD Kineton. 1995.

Two years further on and with the sale of BRT (British Rail Telecoms) immanent to Racall Electronic Plc as part of UK rail privatisation 20 215 and 072 are seen sandwiched between 20 032 and 20 007. They have moved from the MOD loco depot sidings at Kineton into MOD Burton Dassett Yard on the same site. Taken out of BR traffic in 1991 (20 072) and 1992 (20 007, 032, 215) the years of open storage have taken their toll and bleached out the paintwork. A few days later on 02/08/95 all four were moved to ABB Ltd, Crewe Works ahead of the sale of BRT to Racall Electronics Plc. Sadly this didn't see the locos overhauled after the sale and instead they languished at Crewe Works until July 1997 when they were offered for sale by BRT-Racall and all four went to DRS (Direct Rail Services).
They moved from Crewe Works to RFS Industries Ltd at Doncaster for overhaul assessment but like their BRT era ownership DRS did nothing with them as their traction policy was moving to obtain more type 3 and type 4 diesels for intermodal traffic. In August 2002 no.20 007 was sold into private ownership while the remaining three 20 032, 072 & 215 were moved by road in October 2002 for further safe storage at MOD Smalmstown in Cumbria. By this stage they were largely seen as potential parts donors for the DRS active fleet.
