A shed with a pedigree ! ex CDRJC railcar no.15.

To the untrained eye it looks like a ramshackle garden shed but this timber clad entity is in fact the substantially intact remains of CDRJC (Country Donegal Railways Joint Committee) railcar no.15 built in 1935. It had been sold out of service when the line closed in 1959 for further use as a static building. With its wheels removed and the semi articulated cab section and engine taken off it was converted into a summerhouse. It was found by accident by caravan salesman who realised its significance as a former railcar body and he bought it from the owner to gift to the CDRJC museum. Being steel bodied it had lasted well and still had many internal fittings like hand rails and luggage racks but at some stage it was clad in cedar/pine boards and gained a flat roof rather disguising its true identity.

It had been rescued for the Country Donegal Railway Restoration Society and is seen here in storage at Donegal Town Council Depot pending restoration and display at the towns small railway museum in the old station dedicated to the CDRJC.
