33 013 leaving Godstone Tip Siding. 1987.
The old clay pits at South Godstone for many years were used by British Rail to dispose of old track ballast and engineering site spoil. The location used to be run by the South Eastern Brick & Terra Cotta Co. but when in use as a spoil tip it was run by South Godstone Aggregate Ltd who used to resell some of the better stone to arrive by rail while using the old clay pits to bury the rest.
Throughout the 1980's Godstone tip was booked to receive 3 trains a day, effectively one from each Southern Division as services originated at Woking, Three Bridges and Tonbridge.
Here 33 013 is seen leaving the siding and about to join the mainline with 7Y45 the 14.20 to Tonbridge West Yard. This 33 last a couple more years before being withdrawn on 14/03/89 it was finally disposed of at M.C. Metals scrapyard in Glasgow in June 1991.
