Honeymoon Cabin, Sequoia N. P.
This cabin is located at the end of the Mineral King Rd. in Kings Canyon N. P. It has been restored by the park and I think it is the only original structure left in the area. In the late 1800s, there were plans to build up the area because of mining in the area. The severe winters in the area made the idea pretty difficult and it never took off. Later Disney wanted to turn this valley into a large ski resort but the Sierra Club and others stopped that idea from becoming a reality. When this area became part of Sequoia N. P., it was no longer an issue. The trail that leads into the valley has some spectacular views.
The Mineral King Road turn off is before you get to the main section of Sequoia N. P. The turn off is just after the town of Three Rivers and goes another 20 miles on a windy rough road to get to the valley. But once you get here, the views are worth the effort.
