Oatman, AZ on Route 66
Oatman is an old mining town on Route 66. It is located between the Western border of Arizona and Kingman, AZ. The road is windy and goes through a mountain pass before dropping down towards Kingman. The town is a roadside attraction now, but it used to be a mining town. There are a lot of abandoned mines in the area and at least one that is active today.
One of the interesting things you will see here are burros. There are quite a few wild burros walking around the town looking for a free handout. I saw a father and daughter feeding them celery on this trip. They are used to the tourists taking pictures with them and seem pretty tame. There are quite a few gift shops and restaurants to explore if you stop here. Another fun stop on Route 66.
