Dawson City, Yukon, Canada
Dawson City is in the lower right hand corner. The left hand side shows tailing from when there was gold dredging done here. Alaska is on the right side of the Yukon River and you have to take a Canadian ferry across it to get to the city. If you've ever watched the show Gold Rush or some of the other mining shows, this is where they go to blow off steam and relax. There is a lot of history in this town as the mining has been going of for many years in the area. It was really interesting to walk around town and read about the history of some of the buildings.
I took this picture from the Midnight Dome which is just right outside of the main part of the city. You get a great view in both directions of the river and the town. In the middle of summer, this location has a night where the sun never completely sets in the sky. This is a fun place to visit.
