Theme #7 Shrine - "Our Lady Of Guadalupe"
We were walking along the quiet residential streets of small sweet Tulum town. Just down one street, there it was, this lovely unpretentious shrine. A few bottles below, offerings. Luckily for me no bicyle had been parked in front yet.
There are shrines set up everywhere in México; large, small, grand and humble. I spotted some set back in front yards, in driveways, in convenience stores, lit up with Christmas lights in the poorest huts, at the sides of caves, on lonely stretches of dry roads and long highways. No matter the size, each shrine is created with love, for love.
I have found the Mexican people to be warm, friendly, happy and loving and each time I stood in front of a shrine, I felt all this.
