GARDEN FETE.

my dad, who resided at greenwells at the time, leading the donkey ride. at a garden fete, during the 2nd world war. don't know who the girls are in highland regalia, my dad now reckons they were from a highland dancing school in (gala) galashiels, or who the two soldiers are, it was mostly seaforth highlanders, and black watch stationed in the area. or if they even survived the war. the fete was held at eildon hall one of the homes of the duke of buccleuch, near newtown st.boswells it would be around 1943, I also have no idea why this event was held, could have been to raise money for the war effort. st.boswells, Scottish borders, Roxburghshire, Scotland.
