L599, South of Woodland, WI
Wisconsin and Southern (WAMX) 3869 leads the day's edition of L599 south around the curve at Butler Road, between Woodland and Rubicon, on a sunny Friday mid-day. The crew has just finished working the Mayville Spur between Iron Ridge and Mayville, and the hogger has the short train up to track speed as they bop along through the countryside. Ahead at Hartford they will change trains with the L249 crew out of North Milwaukee and then proceed to spend most of the rest of the afternoon working the industries in Hartford, to the chagrin of a couple of railfans (including myself) who were hoping for an afternoon run in good light back to Horicon...
It is always nice to see a few of the WSOR brown RBLs still kicking around too. They were once so ubiquitous on the WSOR, the northern division especially and on the Reedsburg sub that I grew up on which once had two active canneries. While there are still a few around the fleet is a small fraction of what it once was...
