American Bittern In Flight Green Cay Wetlands
American Bitterns love swampy marshes. They will use their brown lined coloration to blend in with the different colors of reeds found in marshes they hunt from. They feed on any small critter, fish, snakes, frogs and even small birds. In Florida they are winter residents only and it is a treat so see one in the marsh feeding. Getting one in flight is a rare treat!!
Mar & April: Photography exhibit at the J. N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center, Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel, Florida
