Migration Success Story

The Wanderer butterfly made its way to Australia, possibly by island-hopping from the Americas, where it is known as the Monarch. It might not have become such a wide-spread inhabitant if it had not been followed by the introduction of its food plant - milkweed.

These days you could be excused for thinking they are the only butterflies in some rural areas or city parks. They are the only species I have seen packing whole trees with massive numbers as they do in Mexico and the USA.
