Ienheru-class Surface Effect Frigate

The Ienheru class, named after a famed ancient Osirian hero, is the first of Osirion's surface effect ships. Also called "sidewall hovercraft," these types of ships have catamaran hulls with an air cushion between them. When the air cushion is not engaged, the ships travels with the hulls submerged, but with the air cushion engaged, the ship is raised out of the water with only the tips of the hulls under the waterline. These ships are among the fastest conventional surface combatants in the world. The Ienheru can reach a top speed of up to 70 knots with the air cushion engaged, but has a much lower cruising speed at around 12 to 15 knots. It is armed with sixteen anti-ship missiles as well as a 115mm autocannon and 30 SAMs and anti-submarine rockets. However, the craft is rather flimsy due to its special construction, and it is also very loud underwater due to the use of the air cushion and water jet propulsion. It is also rather dangerous to be on deck when the ship is traveling at high speeds, especially during rough seas. On the plus side, every single ship in the Royal Osirian Armada is equipped with a huge nightclub below decks, for the purposes of raving to Osirio-disco and spacesynth music.
