Acceptance (give and take) can be described as a national treat by Serbs. But culturally, it has to be collectivelly defined, i.e. dressed in a set of rules. A ritual can serve that purpose, otherwise you are a weirdo. In half a century of rapid changes I have seen a derogatory attitude towards the country's south emerge in Belgrade, but also a major penetration of southern niceties into other regions, including the capital. This is one of them. Countryside brass bands.
Sharing can only truly be a joy when there is some game in doing it. The guys do need to blow hard and strike the right notes on the right moments to earn it. And giving has to remain relatively uncertain, at discretion of those celebrating. The gentleman on the right decided to be... well, a gentleman. I was just a poor photographer passing by. Didn't leave a tip.
Less than 10 ㎝ (3 inches) separates this bill from permanently changing the owner. Less than a split second after this captured instance, the bill will have changed hands, i.e. constitute a full property shift. No power in the world can push the wheel of time backwards; the money belongs to the band now.
One special skill required from these pros is to keep playing while accepting the bills. It is not easy but they don't get another chance. That's the name of the game.
