Queen's Park - LOAD1110 - Day 19
I added another park page to our album...
Journaling reads: It wasn’t particularly a park day. The weather was cool, and it was overcast. We had been at the Terry Fox Run, then church and needed to head back for a baby shower. We quickly grabbed MacDonald’s for lunch downtown and planned to head back to the church to eat when the kids suggested we stop at the skateboard park. It’s not really my choice of great parks to go to. Shall we say that the crowd can be a little iffy for a 6 and 7 year old and 20 year old with special needs? But we decided to do it, even though we only had a few minutes. It actually turned out to be a really good time. The kids were in awe at the kids that were there. There were some that were skateboarding and some on bikes. Yes, we heard some questionable language but we were able to talk about it. We were able to talk about appropriate safety gear as we did see a few wipeouts and very little protection. And yes we saw some neat (aka scary) tricks that…one day they wish they might do. All in all, it was a good experience and we are all glad that we went. And really, it is great that our city has a place like this that is just for the kids - to do what they want to do. Cool times. 2010.09.19
