From the outset of my ownership of Bayline Iveco 2109, my mind was set on reinstating the centre exit doors and steps. This would of course be dependent on sourcing all of the parts required - not easy given the number of years that had passed since Marshall stopped producing body on chassis minibuses.
On a visit to UK bus dismantlers at Bromyard in the hope of finding the correct style of step lights and a side destination box, I noticed this bus tucked away in the line waiting to meet its fate. I took a quick photo as I was led around to the rear emergency exit, where I was allowed to board the bus to remove the doors. I asked if the rest of the parts could be kept back for me when the bus was cut up (as I couldn't get down the nearside to remove parts), but alas upon my return, the bus had gone to the great bus graveyard with nothing saved, and so it was back to the drawing board.
N230MUS was a Marshall C16 bodied Mercedes 811D that had ended its life with Astons Coaches of Kempsey. It was new to Lochs Motor Transport of Leurbost in May 1996.
