The Bones Of Winter
Small rivulets of water flow down over these cliffs which border some parts of Route 480 here in Western Newfoundland and in the winter that water freezes … and over time builds up into some pretty thick chunks of ice. But as Spring progresses, the warmer (slightly 😀) temperatures and sunshine rots the ice and eventually it separates from the cliff face and crashes down into the ditch and melts away. Because of how it looks and the fact that it is usually one of the last vistages of a robust winter that seems to hang on forever in these parts I thought Bones Of Winter would be an appropriate title.
Update: Last night and early this morning we had a late spring snowfall of about 10cm that turned everything white again. ☹️Temps are supposed to rise in the next few days so it shouldn’t last too long.
