Timing is Everything 1
My plan was to get the eastbound Illinois Zephyr at the cantilever signals at Westmont. While waiting at the station, I noted that an inbound Metra train was running late and that the signals indicated eastbounds on the north and center track. I watched the headlights of the Metra train moving slowly as it crossed from the south to the center track and then make its Fairview Avenue stop at about the same time the eastbound IZ came around the curve at Belmont. The Metra train took its time at Fairview and slowly rolled east. It looked like it was going to block by view of Amtrak bit luck was with me as IDTX 4631 easily took the lead.
