Wrong Way
Of course, as I mentioned, I thought the lookout was to the north - having remembered seeing it that way on the Forest Service map I accidentally left in the car parked by Bass Lake. But what I saw on the map was actually a radio tower. So the rest of this hike is to the wrong destination. Which may not have been a bad thing. The radio tower direction has rather nice views and gets you there in less time (those dirt service roads can get freakin' steep - 35% grade or more!)
