button dresscode

In the restaurant where I work I can wear what I like as long as I keep the topbutton of my cardigan done up. (So I do have to wear a cardigan). I have only worked there since one week and this topbutton thing, I haven't got round to asking why that is.

 

It does give a certain image. Shy. Proper. Serving. Sweet. What else? Comfortable though it has made me feel uncomfortable too, standing at people's tables with my notebook in my hand and realising how I look when I see the other girls wearing their cardigans.
