The Famous Vegetable Roll (360/365)

This image certainly needs an explanation and needless to say the 365 project would not be complete without it. Our family has a very odd tradition. At Christmas or Thanksgiving we roll misc varieties of vegetables and fruits down a very severe hill. It is like a science project to see which item will go the farthest the fastest and which will break apart with the greatest gusto. Now needless to say there are many variables in this project but it always leads to great laughter. This year the vegetable roll took place in Portland in the pouring rain ( please feel sorry for the photographer trying to get the shot when keeping her camera dry and also dodging flying acorn squash and cantaloupe) but my favorite one was two Thanksgivings ago when we took on the hills of San Francisco. I got a classic picture of a lady looking at this activity with great disbelief. There were about 10 of us at that roll and one person was assigned just to keep the fruits from hitting the very high end cars parked on the streets. Clean up is always fun too!
