Shell Centre London MIMC Autospec

1964

picture from "Tanker times"

The automatic error correcting equipment installed by MIMC at Shell Centre London.

The two-tone telegraph equipment at the far left, to the right the Autospec and the Creed model 75R reperforator.

The personnel at Shell Centre informed the coastal radiostation about the received data quality (number of errors). Upon his request a second (or very seldom a third) run of the data tape by the ship was necessary.

The S-class sisters "SEPIA" PHKW, and "SERENIA" GHLE and "SOLEN&quot GHPG; took part in this experiment.

So did the "ALUCO" GCJU, "ARIANTA" GCNU, and "AMORIA" GCXU
