Apple Crisp
A quick, easy, comforting, and crowd-pleasing sweet treat.
Filling Ingredients:
1/3 cup REAL maple syrup
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt
5 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
Filling Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. In a large bowl mix together maple syrup, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
3. Add sliced apples and stir to coat. Pour into 8"x8" glass baking dish and arrange in even layer.
Streusel Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup white sugar (can be reduced to 1/3 cup)
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour (I used rice flour to make this gluten-free for hubby)
1/3 cup rolled oats
Streusel Steps:
1. Mix together all ingredients just until combined.
2. Using your fingers, crumble the mixture over the apple mixture.
3. Place glass baking dish in the oven on a baking sheet. Bake for 50-60 minutes until apple mixture is bubbling and streusel is golden.
4. Let cool on wire rack. Serve and enjoy :)
