Planasker School Marvig

A bit of history found when Owners were renovating Planasker School "George Mcleod 17 Kenneth Street Stornoway & Donald Macrae Keith Street lined this ceiling. Staying with Alexander Maclennan, fisherman Marvig Lochs by Stornoway. Remember us when we are dead and gone. Goodbye." The next sentence is difficult to decipher, but on the other side of the wood it says "Farewell to whisky"!! The second piece of wood says Marvig 12th March 1879 blowing a gale from the north east and raining. George Mcleod. The third piece says Robert Matheson 8 Bayhead Street March 14th 1879. Remember this Now at Marvig - a dry part of the land. Not as much as a pint(?) can be got at present" The Alexander Maclennan is in all probability my Great Grandfather
