In the picture you can find the two types of extended snare strainers on vintage top of the line Yamaha snare drums: The super-sensitive type parallel action strainer (bottom picture) from 1981 catalog was first introduced in late 1970's and the dual strainer type on the upper picture is from the mid 80's. Pictures here are taken from 1981 and 1986 catalogs, which can be downloaded from www.drumarchive.com pages.
The newer dual strainer type (with the black plastic surroundings) needs a special type of snares, the Yamaha SN-914 snares or similar. The snare lenght extends just over the bearing edge, but does not reach over the guiding rolls of the strainers. Your best bet would be to go to your local Yamaha dealer and ask them to order those SN-914 snares, if they don't have them already in the store.
The parallel-action snare owners can find replacement snares from Ludwig or Puresound. The same snare type fits Ludwig Super-Sensitive drums from 1969 to present day.
