LEYBURN SPRINTS 2012, 1963 MORRIS MINI MINOR
Headed out to Leyburn, Darling Downs country today, to have a gander at the Leyburn Sprints. Grabbed a few photos. Leyburn of course has the Royal Hotel, owned by very famous local, Shane Webcke, who played for Wattles locally, Brisbane Broncos, Qld and Australia in Rugby League. Legend has it, and remember legend is not necessarily true, although I wouldn't be surprised with this guy, that Shane was playing first grade rugby league in a pretty tough and physical competition here on the Downs at age 15, and that he was starring at that age, true, I don't know, I would have to interview Shane to find out. His brother Dallas, was also in that side, allegedly. I was also surprised to hear possibly the country;s foremost motorsport journalist Will Hagen (I am now not sure as to the spelling of this man's last name, I thought Hagen, Leyburn programme says Hagon, and I can find both versions on the www.) in the commentary area. I was only listening to Will on Thursday night on Tony Delroy's night life, and ABC program out of Melbourne I think, running from 10pm through to midnight or so.
