Touch of Spring

We still have our winter snowpack (35") and temperatures are still dipping below zero (-17°F (-27°C) this morning) but some of the waterways are showing signs of spring.

This permafrost area often shows signs of breakup first, probably because of the heat (methane) produced by the boggy surface over the permafrost.
