Brief flight

The gulls took off, flew around, and later returned to the edge of the ice.

 

They're kind of blurry -- the lens I use doesn't really autofocus well. It's an 800mm lens, requiring precise focus, and f/5.6, which is the advertised limit of the D200's autofocus. (In fact the D200 can autofocus to f/8 or so under favorable conditions, but not very well.)
